Causes:
-In Japan, new government 1941
-Pearl Harbor attack in Hawaii - Dec 7th, 1941, caused major damage, USA was oblivious
-USA declared war on Japan and dropped atomic bombs
Effects:
-Atomic bomb on Hiroshima (killed 90,000 immediately) and Nagasaki (killed 70,000 immediately)
-Lasting effects of radiation; caused severe health problems for countless Japanese citizens
-Destroyed all in its path, including entire cities, homes, businesses, and people.

Purpose of Propaganda
-Persuasion
-In USA: tried to gain support for war, troops, and women on the home front from USA citizens. It helped keep us in the war.
-In Germany: Hitler used propaganda to deceive his people into believing that his views were correct and the only accepted view for German people.
Rationing
-Americans were advised to save their resources such as food and metal in order to help the war effort
-Citizens advised against buying unnecessary items, everything had to be put towards the war
Results of WWII
-Hitler and Mussolini dead
-Severe Jewish population decline
-Millions of other deaths because of the war
-Debt throughout Europe
-Marshall Plan established to help rebuild European countries
-Radiation effects in Japan, as well as nuclear power struggles later beginning the Cold War
-Baby Boom, soldiers came home to their wives and started families
-USA economic boom, men came home and went back to their jobs
-USA still seen as a major world power
